Curve Snap Six-Game Skid with Shutout Win at Trenton

TRENTON, N.J. - The Altoona Curve brought an end to a season-worst six-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over the Trenton Thunder on Wednesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park. Lefty Steven Brault picked up his first Double-A win with seven scoreless, one-hit innings.

The Curve (43-35) pitched their seventh shutout of the season, holding the Thunder (42-36) to just two hits in the game.

Brault (Win, 1-1) worked just one over the minimum, allowing his only base runner of the game on a single by Gary Sanchez to begin the fifth inning. His seven innings the longest outing of his career.

The Curve took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Eric Wood against Trenton starter Matt Tracy (Loss, 0-1).

Stetson Allie added a second run with a solo homer in the sixth inning, his eleventh of the year.

John Kuchno (Save, 4) recorded the final six outs, allowing just one hit while striking out three batters.

Max Moroff went 2-for-4 with a walk. Sebastian Valle had a two-hit game for the second night in a row.

The Curve and Thunder play the third of the four-game series on Thursday night at ARM & HAMMER Park. Right-hander Jason Creasy (8-1, 2.99) will start on the mound for Altoona. Lefty Caleb Smith (5-4, 4.08) is on the hill for Trenton. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
