NEWS AND NOTES
WORKING FOR THE WEEKEND : Tonight the Sea Dogs open up a three-game series with the Akron RubberDucks (Indians affiliate) at Hadlock Field. This series marks the first (and only) visit by Akron to Portland this season. Last weekend, the RubberDucks swept the 'Dogs in three games at Canal Park in Akron. Last year, Akron won all three games they played at Hadlock Field. The last time the Sea Dogs beat the RubberDucks at Hadlock Field was June 16, 2013.
JUSTIN'S GEM : Yesterday, Justin Haley pitched the best outing of the season by a Sea Dogs starting pitcher, going seven scoreless innings and allowing just one hit, while walking none and striking out six. It was Haley's first outing of over six innings this season and tied a career high in innings pitched (6x, last: 8/30/14 vs. Harrisburg).
