Chesapeake Baysox News Release
Bowie, Md. - Harrisburg Senators starter Lucas Giolito showed why he is the top ranked prospect in the Nationals organization Friday, throwing seven shutout innings and allowing just one hit while striking out 11 in a 2-0 win over the Baysox. The one hit recorded by the Baysox in the game was a season-low and Giolito recorded the first 10 or more strikeout game by a Baysox opponent this season.
Both Senators runs came in the bottom of the third inning against Baysox starter Nick Additon. Pedro Severino hit a lead-off double to center field and moved to third base when Jose Lozada reached on a bunt single to second base. A wild pitch allowed Lozada to move to second base and Severino came home on a one-out Wilmer Difo groundout. Brian Goodwin then singled through the hole at second base to plate Lozada and make the score 2-0.
Making his Double-A debut, catcher Chance Sisco recorded the only hit for the Baysox in his first at-bat of the game in the second inning. The Baysox also had one runner reach base via walk and one after being hit by a pitch. The Baysox did not put a runner on base after the second inning of the game.
Addition pitched 7.2 innings for the Baysox and allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out seven and walking two in the loss. Reliever Andrew Robinson recorded the final out of the game for the Baysox.
