RHP Gabriel Ynoa (8-7, 3.66) vs. LHP Ryan Carpenter (6-12, 4.06)
Friday, August 14, 2015 - Game #117 - Road Game #60
New Britain Stadium - New Britain, CT - 7:05 PM
LAST GAME: The B-Mets took the series in Altoona, beating the Curve, 5-4, Thursday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Binghamton scored four runs in the eighth for the comeback victory, fueled by Albert Cordero's second home run. LJ Mazzilli, Jared King and Gavin Cecchini each had two hits. Rainy Lara allowed two runs in seven innings for the victory.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Gabriel Ynoa is making his 20th start of the season and fourth against New Britain. In four career starts against the Rock Cats, Ynoa is just 1-3 but with a 3.86 ERA. This will be his fourth start against New Britain in his last seven. The righty is coming off a no-decision, allowing a run and four hits over 7.2 innings against Trenton. Â
NEW BRITAIN STARTER: LHP Ryan Carpenter is making his 24th start and third against Binghamton. He's 1-1 against the B-Mets, allowing five runs in 11 total innings. He's 2-7 in his last 11 starts and is coming off a no-decision against Reading, having allowed two runs and eight hits in seven innings. He'll be making his league-leading 24th start. He also ranks third in innings pitched (135.1), fourth in losses (12) and first in home runs allowed (16).
ROCKING THE CATS: This is the final series between these teams in 2015. Binghamton has already won the season series, taking nine of the first 11 matchups. A win Friday would give Binghamton their most against New Britain since 2004 (12). These are the last games the B-Mets will ever play in New Britain Stadium, before the Rock Cats move to Hartford.
COSTLY CECCHINI: Gavin Cecchini has committed 28 errors, the most for any EL shortstop, that have led to 21 unearned runs. The rest of the team has committed 90 errors, leading to 38 unearned runs. He has three errors over the last two games. Robert Gsellman has allowed 11 runs over his last five starts combined, with just two of them being earned.
LAST 10: Binghamton is 7-1-2 in their last 10 series. The B-Mets are coming off a series win, having took two of three from the Curve in Altoona.
JARED IS KING: Jared King is currently enjoying a season-best seven-game hitting streak. He's 11-for-22 during the streak, including two hits in Thursday's win. It was his fourth multi-hit game in the past two weeks. He has raised his averaged from .198 to .215 during the streak. King has driven in 15 runs over his last 20 games, batting eighth or ninth in all 20.
COMING AROUND: LJ Mazzilli is coming off back-to-back multi-hit games for the first time since July 21st, the last time he was in New Britain. After hitting .156 in 16 his previous 16 games, Mazzilli is now 4-for-7 in the last two. He drove in two runs Thursday for the third time this season.
2-FOR-1: Gavin Cecchini has registered multiple hits in 10 of his last 16 games, batting .408 during that time. He has 12 hits in his last 28 at-bats and is batting .388 in his last 35 games.
K-ROD: Josh Rodriguez is hitless in last 15 at-bats, with seven of them ending in strikeout. Rodriguez has still gotten on base, drawing eight walks and getting hit by a pitch over the five games. He has not played since Tuesday.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME: Binghamton holds the best road record in the EL (35-25), but is just 29-27 at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton is 3-0 in New Britain this season.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their series in New Britain Saturday night at 7:05 PM. RHP Matt Koch gets the start against RHP Chad Bettis.
