Summary
Akron's Ronny Rodriguez slugged a pair of homers and drove in four runs, and right-hander Duke von Schamann earned his first win of the season as the RubberDucks cruised to a 12-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs Friday night at Hadlock Field.
Turning Point
The RubberDucks (64-55) scored a season-high, seven runs in the third inning to take a 8-1 lead against lefty Danny Rosenbaum (0-5). Bradley Zimmer had a two run single, and Rodriguez blasted a three-run homer to highlight the rally. The Sea Dogs committed a pair of errors in the inning, leading to five unearned runs.
Mound Presence
Von Schamman made his season debut for the RubberDucks, and worked five innings to earn the win. He allowed two runs on four hits, walked only one and struck out four. It was von Schamann's first outing since starting Game 1 of the EL playoffs last September 3rd. He threw 70 pitches, 48 of which for strikes. After von Schamann left, Jacob Lee tossed a pair of scoreless innings, and Casey Weathers and Jeff Johnson chipped in a scoreless inning apiece to finish the game.
Duck Tales
Ronny Rodriguez enjoyed his second two-homer game of the season. He also homered twice at Altoona on August 1st. His three-run homer in the third gave Akron a 7-1 lead, and he added a solo shot in the 9th off Simon Mercedes to cap the scoring at 12 -2. Rodriguez now has a team-high, 11 homers. Yandy Diaz clubbed a two-run shot in the fourth, his seventh. Bryson Myles added a solo shot in the sixth.
Notes
The RubberDucks improved to 4-0 against the Sea Dogs...The Bowie Baysox were shut out, 2-0, by Harrisburg, so the Ducks are 3 1/2 games out of first with 23 games to play...Time of game: 2:47...Attendance: 6,906.

The RubberDucks and Sea Dogs (43-76) will play Game 2 of the series Saturday evening at 6:00. RHP D.J. Brown is expected to join the team and make his AA debut for Akron.
