Harrisburg Senators News Release

Lucas Giolito threw seven shutout innings, retiring the final 17 batters he faced, in the Harrisburg Senators' 2-0 win over the Bowie Baysox Friday at Metro Bank Park. The win snaps a four-game losing streak for Harrisburg (57-62).

Giolito walked just one and allowed one hit in his seven innings of work while tying a season-high with 11 strikeouts. Giolito threw 99 pitches Friday, with 63 for strikes, in his first win as a member of the Senators. Bryan Harper then threw a perfect eighth inning with a pair of strikeouts and Paul Demny earned the save with a 1-2-3 ninth. Overall, the Senators sent down the final 23 Bowie batters consecutively to finish off the combined one-hitter.

Offensively, the extent of Harrisburg's damage came in the 3rd inning after Pedro Severino doubled and Jose Lozada pushed a bunt single up the first base side to put runners on first and third with nobody out. Wilmer Difo knocked in a run with a groundout and Brian Goodwin hit an RBI single to make it 2-0, Senators. Harrisburg had a chance to add to its total in the fourth as Shawn Pleffner walked and Cutter Dykstra singled to start the inning, but the two were stranded there after a pair of pop outs and a strike out.

Goodwin was the only Senator with a multi-hit game as he finished 2-for-4.

The Senators will try to secure a series win tomorrow night in a 6:00 p.m. start on Pink Night. The pregame show will start at 5:45 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
