Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Fightin Phils (67-51) saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end as Trenton's Ali Castillo hit a walk-off two run single to give the Thunder (62-56) a 2-1 win. Zach Eflin logged seven shutout innings and Brock Stassi hit a RBI double for Reading's lone run of the game.
Eflin and Trenton starter Caleb Smith both turned in strong performances. Smith didn't allow a run in seven innings as he gave up five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Brodie Greene finished the game going 2 for 3 with a double. JP Crawford, Cameron Perkins, Andrew Knapp and Rene Garcia each had one hit. Knapp extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
Edubray Ramos (0-1) retired the side in the bottom of the eighth inning before running into trouble in the bottom of the ninth inning. He got Mark Payton to pop out to Rene Garcia then gave up a walk to Rob Segedin and a single to Tony Renda. Danny Oh was intentionally walked to load the bases. Ryan O'Sullivan entered the game and gave up the game-winning hit to Castillo. He was charged with a blown save.
