
Rock Cats to Host the Greatest Save Clinic & Celebrity Softball Game on August 30th

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, has announced that it will host The Greatest Save Youth Baseball Clinic and Hall of Fame Celebrity Post-Game Softball game to benefit The Greatest Save, which helps protect area children and teens from sexual exploitation and abduction. The clinic will take place prior to the Rock Cats final home game at New Britain Stadium on Sunday, August 30th from 9AM to Noon. The Hall of Fame Celebrity Softball Game will follow the Rock Cats 1:35 PM game against the Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs.
The baseball clinic is free for kids ages 6-15. Tickets for the Rock Cats game and Hall of Fame Celebrity Softball Game can be purchased on-line at rockcats.com/greatestsave or by calling 860-224-8383. The proceeds will benefit KinderVision/The Greatest Save Personal Safety Programs for Connecticut children, teens and families. Â
The Hall of Fame Celebrity Softball Game will feature Hall of Fame Pitchers Rollie Fingers and Fergie Jenkins along with former Yankees stars Jim Leyritz and Rick Cerone. All-Star George Foster will join Mike Torrez, Darrell Evans, Frank Catalanato and other former Major League players and celebrities for the event.
"We are pleased to work with The Greatest Save and help educate families about keeping children safe," Rock Cats General Manager Tim Restall said. "This will be a memorable event with two Hall of Famers and several former Major League players sharing the day with us and celebrating the Rock Cats last home game."
