
Schoneck Ties Game With 2:04 left, O'Connor wins Shootout

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers (6-1-1) defeated the Bakersfield Condors (3-4-2) 4-3 in front of 5,099 fans at the Orleans Arena. Defenseman Scott Schoneck scored his first goal of the season to tie the game at three with only 2:04 remaining in the game. Center Derek Edwardson and winger Sean O'Connor both scored in the shootout to help Las Vegas improve to 5-0-0 at home this season. Goalie Mike McKenna picked up his first professional win with 21 saves in the game and stuffing four of five Bakersfield shootout attempts. Condors' winger Sean Venedam scored two goals in the loss. Las Vegas center Chris Stanley paced the Wranglers with a goal and an assist. Defenseman Tim Hambly scored the Wranglers first goal of the night. The Wranglers now head to Alaska to face the Aces on Wednesday at 8:15 pm (PST).
In the first period, Sean Venedam scored a power-play goal just five minutes into the game to give the Condors a 1-0 lead. Venedam scored again on a pass by Kevin St. Jacques to push the Condors lead to 2-0 by the end of the period
In the second period, Condors winger Alexandre Bolduc scored a shorthanded goal to expand the Bakersfield lead to 3-0. Four minutes later, the Wranglers answered with their first goal of the night as Tim Hambly scored on a shot from the point through traffic to make the score 3-1 after two periods.
In the third period, Chris Stanley scored his second goal in as many nights at 17:37 to make the score 3-2. Las Vegas got the equalizer off the stick of Scott Schoneck, with just 2:04 left in the game he knocked home a rebound in the crease, forcing the game into overtime.
After a scoreless overtime period, the game was decided in a shootout. Wranglers' goalie Mike McKenna stopped four of five shooters to set the tone for Las Vegas. The Wranglers answered with shootout goals by Derek Edwardson and Sean O'Connor for the final score of 4-3.
The Wranglers embark on a four-game road trip with three games in Alaska before stopping in Fresno. The Wranglers will play in Anchorage on November 16, 17, and 19. The team will play in Fresno on November 22nd before returning home on Friday, November 25th to host the Stockton Thunder. The team will hand out 2,000 Trucker Hats with Mullets before the game. Also, fans will have a chance to see the Stanley Cup which will be at the game to help raise money for the Hurricane Relief Fund.
