Lynx win thriller in shootout

November 12, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release

A thrilling third period led to a come-from-behind shootout win for the Augusta Lynx on Saturday night over the South Carolina Stingrays.

Brian Passmore scored the game-tying goal with just 1:19 left in the third period on Augusta's (4-3-2) fourth and final power play of the evening, banging home a rebound off an Eric Lundberg shot from the left point. Ryan Lang's hard work on the boards set up the goal as he worked the puck up to Lundberg for the shot.

In the shootout, Passmore would also score the game-clinching goal after Joel Stepp and Nicolas Corbeil both beat Maxime Daigneault (36 saves) while Trevor Cunning (22 saves) stopped all three attempts in the extra session.

South Carolina (2-4-5) opened the scoring at 18:50 of the first period on a Cam McCaffrey marker from Matt Reid and J-F David, and forged a 2-0 advantage when Deryk Engelland scored at 9:22 of the second period.

Augusta would claw within a goal at 10:16 of the second stanza when Joe Pereira tipped a Ken Scuderi shot through Daigneault's five-hole to make it 2-1. Phil Cole also added a helper on the goal, setting the stage for Passmore's dramatics.

The Lynx finished the game 1-for-4 on the power play while South Carolina ended the night 0-for-7.

The Lynx will take to the road for games against Columbia on Friday, Pensacola Sunday, and finally Gwinnett on Thanksgiving Day before returning home Friday, November 25th against Greenville and Saturday, November 26th versus Charlotte. Both games are slated for 7:05 pm starts, with tickets available through the Lynx office by calling (706) 724-4ICE, through all TicketMaster locations, and online at www.TicketMaster.com.
