Bakersfield Condors News Release

LAS VEGAS, NV. - Sean Venedam scored two goals and Kevin St. Jacques extended his point streak to four games as the Bakersfield Condors fell to the Las Vegas Wranglers in a 4-3 shootout loss at the Orleans Arena.

Bakersfield scored first on a 5-on-3 power play early in the first period. Kevin St. Jacques fed Sean Venedam, who sent a low wrster over the left pad of Las Vegas netminder Mike McKenna to give the Condors a 1-0 lead. Scott Basiuk assisted on the goal as the Condors recorded the evening's first goal.

Venedam and St. Jacques would connect again off a Las Vegas turnover ten minutes later. Venedam stripped the puck from a Wrangler defenseman at the blueline and immediately attacked along with St. Jacque, connecting on a few rounds of give-and-go passes before Venedam deposited the puck under McKenna. Bakersfield carried the 2-0 lead into the second period.

The Condors would take advantage of anther turnover early in the second, as Andrew Ianiero stole the puck and completed a backhand saucer pass to Alexandre Bolduc, who buried it past McKenna to give Bakersfield a 3-0 lead. It was the Condors' first shorthanded goal of the season.

Las Vegas would cut the lead to two after pulling McKenna for the extra skater on a Condors delayed penalty. Tim Hambly softly threw the puck on net from the blue line and hit the mesh behind Condors goaltender Ryan Munce to put the Wranglers on the board. The Condors carried their 3-1 lead into the third after being outshot 19-4 in the second period.

Tyler Sloan continued the Las Vegas comeback as he fired a wrist shot, which was deflected by Chris Stanley over Munce's right shoulder just 2:23 into the third period after a blue line pass from Chris Stanley. Todd Alexander also receved an assist as the Wranglers brought the Condors lead to 3-2.

With 2:04 remaining in regulation, Scott Schoenick camped out at the left post of Munce to tie the game at 3-3. Schoenick worked his way outside the crease and batted the rebound off of a Steve Crampton shot. An assist was also credited to Matt Dzieduszycki as the Wranglers sent the game to overtime.

Following a back-and-forth overtime frame, Bakersfield opened scoring in the shootout after Mike Hofstrand sent his wrist shot past Mike McKenna. Hofstrand would be the lone scorer in the shootout for the Condors, who held a 1-0 lead through three rounds. The final two Las Vegas shooters, Derek Edwardson and Sean O'Conner, both converted to give the Wranglers the 4-3 win.

Mike McKenna earned the win for Las Vegas, stopping 21 of 24 Condor shots. Ryan Munce was given the loss, despite a 43 save evening on 46 Wrangler shots.

The Condors return to Bakersfield Thursday, November 17th when they host the San Diego Gulls on High School and College ID Night. All students presenting a valid high school or college ID at the Arena Box Office can purchase tickets starting at $1.
