ALLENTOWN, PA - After winning the opening game of this six-game series last night, the Buffalo Bisons defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 8-4 on Wednesday night from Coca-Cola Park.

The victory moves the Bisons back into first place of the in the International League East Division by a half-game over the Rochester Red Wings.

The Herd welcomed back Nick Allgeyer from the injured list after missing the past two weeks, though the lefty went through the order just once in his return.

Allgeyer ultimately pitched 2.1 innings while allowing two runs, though just one earned, with the latter coming off a solo homer by Rafael Marchan. The unearned run came when two errors were made on a pickoff attempt which allowed the runner to score from second.

The Bisons put up a three-spot in the third behind a two-run double by Samad Taylor followed by a wild pitch that allowed Tanner Morris to score from third. Morris would later drive in a run of his own, while Taylor finished the night 4-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk, and a stolen base.

The IronPigs tied the game up in the fifth after Daulton Guthrie went deep before Marchan doubled home another run. Both runs were charged to Jake Elliott who came into the game following Derek Holland's 1.2 innings.

The Herd broke the 4-4 tie in the seventh when Cullen Large picked up an RBI fielder's choice, Logan Warmoth singled up the middle to drive in a run, and then Nathan Lukes got plunked with the bases loaded to give the Bisons a three-run lead. Warmoth then drove in another run in the ninth to put the Herd up 8-4.

Shaun Anderson threw three shutout innings of relief that included five K's, three of which came in the eighth, before Kyle Johnston finished things off in the bottom of the ninth.

The Bisons and IronPigs will continue their series tomorrow night with Casey Lawrence back on the mound against lefthander Michael Plassmeyer. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EST.

Lawrence has been the best pitcher in the International League this season, leading the league in wins, ERA, and WHIP, while Plassmeyer was just traded from the San Francisco Giants organization to the Phillies in exchange for catcher Austin Wynns last week.
