
Mud Hens Rally Back to Beat Woo Sox

WORCESTER, MA - The Toledo Mud Hens defeated the Worcester Red Sox 5-2, at Polar Park on Wednesday night.
Michael Mariot picks up his first win with the Mud Hens, taking his season record to 5-1. Brayan Bello takes the loss for the Red Sox; he is now 3-2. The save goes to Derek Law, his 10th save of the season.
The Mud Hens went up early on a Josh Lester solo home run in the 2nd. The Red Sox rallied back to take a 2-1 lead heading into the 6th inning. Jeimer Candelario tied it back up with an RBI double. Lester put the Hens back in front with a sacrifice fly. Riley Greene extended the lead with an RBI single in the 7th. Ryan Kreidler stole two bases and scored on a John Valente sacrifice fly in the 9th to reach the final score of 5-2.
Greene and Candelario led the way with two hits a piece, Lester, Derek Hill, Akil Baddoo, and Brady Policelli each picked up one hit. Greene, Baddoo and Candelario each picked up a double. Lester led the team with two RBI, while Candelario and Valente each picked up one RBI.
Mariot made his Mud Hens debut worthwhile, picking up his 5th win of the season, making him 5-1. Mariot pitched 5.0 innings, allowing two runs, two hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Miguel Diaz pitched a perfect 1-2-3 6th inning, picking up his 4th hold. Bryan Garcia picked up his 4th hold, pitching 1.1 innings, allowing one hit and one strikeout. Miguel Del Pozo grabbed his 8th hold, pitching 0.2 inning, allowing one hit and one strikeout. Law nabbed his 10th save pitching 1.0 inning, allowing one hit.
What's Next: The Toledo Mud Hens remain in Worcester on Thursday, playing at 6:45 pm EST at Polar Park against the Red Sox.
