Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - The Missouri Mavericks (28-18-6) spoiled Joe Ferras' 500th game behind the bench, shutting out the Rapid City Rush (33-19-4) for just the third time this season on Saturday night. Robby Nolan turned away all 41 Rush shots to lead the Mavs to a 4-0 victory and weekend split. The Rush now head to the road for a matchup against the Tulsa Oilers on Tuesday evening at 6:05pm MST.

Scoring the lone goal of the opening two periods was Mavs winger Ryan Jardine who collected his 15th of the season. The Mavericks entered the offensive zone on a 4-on-2 chance and Jardine used a Rush defenseman as a screen and snapped a shot to the top-right corner.

The Mavericks pulled away in the opening 4:48 of the third period, netting a pair of goals just 1:15 apart. Missouri doubled the lead while on the powerplay at 3:33 on Jardine's second of the game, a deflection from the side of the net. Todd Griffith gave the Mavericks a commanding lead when he capitalized on a defensive zone turnover by the Rush, potting his third of the weekend. Sealing the victory was all-star Nick Sirota who made the most of a 2-on-1 chance with less than three minutes remaining.

Robby Nolan turned away 41 shots for his league-leading fifth shutout of the season.

The next home games for the Rush will be on Friday and Saturday, March 4th and 5th against the Wichita Thunder. Tickets are still available for both games.
