PrairieThunder Loses in Shootout 3-2 to Allen Americans

Defenseman Jonathon Zion scored the game winning goal in the shootout leading the Allen Americans to a 3-2 victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Saturday night at the Allen Event Center in Texas. The Americans got their league leading 38th victory on the season as they improved to 38-11-2. The PrairieThunder (30-16-5) picked up a point in the standings with the shootout loss. For Bloomington, it was their ninth straight game that they picked up at least a point in the CHL standings. Pending the outcome of Saturday's Wichita at Colorado game, the PrairieThunder can close to within two points of second place Colorado.

Bloomington's magic number to clinch the team's first ever playoff spot is three as Evansville defeated Fort Wayne on Saturday night while the PThunder picked up a point in the shootout loss.

Bloomington wraps up the road trip Sunday afternoon in the Fort Worth suburb of Richland Hills, Texas against the Texas Brahmas at 4:00pm.
