
Royals Raise Money For Charity; Fan\'s Choice Award Winners Announced

READING , PA â The Reading Royals, in cooperation with Outback Steakhouse and V&M Towing, generated over $11,000 for Royals Charities. Royals Charities is committed to providing assistance to charitable organizations throughout Reading and the surrounding area serving seriously ill, disabled, or disadvantaged youth and their families through fundraising activities, charitable campaigns, and donations.
The Royals 3rd Annual Fan's Choice Awards, end-of-the-year banquet, presented by the Reading Eagle was held on Tuesday, March 30. During the event, the Royals and V&M Towing held a live auction for the Royals warm-up flame jerseys. On Thursday, April 1, the Royals players and staff were at Outback Steakhouse for the 3rd annual âRoyals At Your Service.' Customers were asked to visit Outback during their lunch hour, in which they were treated to wait service from the Reading Royals players.
Royals general manager Ray Delia said both events went very well, "We have been producing these events since our inaugural season and it seems the results improve each year! I am proud of our fans' and their giving which assists our organization in improving the lives of children in need throughout Berks County ."
Also, at the Reading Royals 3rd Annual Fan's Choice Awards, several Royals were honored for their exceptional performance this year. The following is a list of award winners: DeCarlo Custom Cabinetry's Rookie of the Year (David Masse), Nathaniel Ehrlich, Esquire Offensive Player of the Year (Kent Davyduke), V&M Towing's Defensive Player of the Year (Ian Turner), The Works of Wyomissing Most Valuable Player (Cody Rudkowsky) and Krapf's Transportation, formerly Van Lear Equipment, Unsung Hero and the Reading Eagle Fan's Choice Award winner (Dave Stewart).
Fans were asked to vote through the Reading Eagle newspaper during the months of February and March. Over, 1,000 ballots were collected and tallied.
The Reading Royals finish off the regular season with two games at home this weekend. Reading hosts Johnstown on tonight and the first 2,000 fans at the game will receive the fourth edition of Royals hockey trading cards courtesy of Rieck's Printing. Saturday, Reading closes out the regular season against Northern Division foe Toledo . Saturn of Reading is handing out Royals seat cushions to the first 2,000 fans through the gate. Both contests face off at 7: 05 p.m. in the Sovereign Center in downtown Reading.
