Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ (April 2, 2004) – Fate was not in the Titans corner tonight as the Wheeling Nailers come away with two points that the Titans needed to stay ahead of Reading for the final playoff spot. Trenton is not out but time can only tell if they can rebound to stay alive in the race for the Kelly Cup.

The Titans went into the locker room for the first intermission having outshot the Nailers 13-4, but trailing on the scoreboard 2-0. Steve Crampton and former Titans Brad Mehlako tallied a 1:51 apart to give the Nailers the two-goal lead. Down 3-0 after two, the Titans found some life when Josh Harrold got his first goal as a Titan when he slid the puck through the five-hole of Nailer goalie Joe Exter to put Trenton on the scoreboard early in the third period.

That's as close as the Titans would get as Exter stopped 36-of-37 shots to help seal the win. Steve Crampton got his second of the night as he scored in the empty net at 19:03 to make the final score 4-1.

The Trenton Titans are a member of the ECHL – America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Trenton Titans play at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ. The Titans conclude the regular season against Johnstown Chiefs Saturday, April 3rd at Sovereign Bank Arena. Game time is 7:00pm. Saturday is Frisbee Giveaway Night courtesy of Mercer County Community College. It you're interested in attending, call your Titans Ticket Representative at 609.599.9500.
