
Gladiators Outlast Cottonmouths, 3-1

The Gwinnett Gladiators got goals in each period from three different players while Trevor Prior made 32 saves to help the Gladiators to a 3-1 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths and remain in sole possession of third place in the ECHL's Central Division.
Gwinnett, which has already clinched a playoff berth, jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Blue Bennefied slipped past the Columbus defense and beat Cottonmouths netminder Jason Tapp for his 20th goal of the season. Evan Nielsen and Cam Brown added the assists on the goal at 3:12 of the first period.
J-F Ploured tied the game at a goal apiece later in the first period as he took a centering feed in the slot and rolled the puck past Gladiators netminder Trevor Prior. Christian Larrivee and John Morlang added the assists on the goal at 6:02 of the opening period.
Joe Bourne's 6th goal of the season gave the Gladiators a 2-1 lead before the close of the second period. Bourne took a pass in the slot from Brandon Dietrich and ripped a shot off of the shoulder of Tapp and into the upper corner of the net for the tally. Paul Flache also added an assist on the goal for Gwinnett at 19:07 of the middle stanza.
Steve Slonina capped the scoring for the Gladiators as he worked a give-and-go with Kris Goodjohn and beat Tapp with a wide open net to shoot at. Chris Durno picked up his 25th assist of the season on the goal at 4:17 of the final stanza.
Trevor Prior turned aside 32 shots to help the Gladiators improve to 41-22-8 on the season and setting a new mark for wins in a season.
