Laval Rocket News Release
BINGHAMTON - Morgan Adams-Moisan netted his first American Hockey League goal and eight other Rocket players picked up at least a point in the Laval Rocket's 5-2 victory over the Binghamton Devils at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night, which allowed the Rocket to pick up all four points against the divisional rival this weekend.
The Rocket completely dominated the Devils in the opening frame and allowed zero shots on goaltender Michael McNiven, despite two penalties being called against Joël Bouchard's troops in the period. The domination allowed Adams-Moisan to net his first AHL goal in the final three minutes of the period, as he deflected Nikita Jevpalov's shot by Mackenzie Blackwood to give Laval a 1-0 lead after one.
Alexandre Grenier extended Laval's lead to two just three minutes into the second period by picking up the puck after having fallen down and roofing it past Blackwood glove side, but the Devils came back into the game with two goals from Tariq Hammond and Nathan Bastian in less than two minutes to make it 2-2 after forty minutes of play.
Similarly to their opponents in the second period, the Rocket came out flying in the third by scoring two goals in less than a minute to give them a 4-2 lead over the Devils. The first of these goals came from Lukas Vejdemo and the second from Alex Belzile, and an empty-net goal from Ouellet in the final minute of play secured the victory and the weekend sweep of Binghamton.
"We bent a bit in the second period, but we didn't break, and I'm extremely proud of how the guys played in the third period," explained Bouchard after the game. "For a young team like that to have the maturity on the road after having won yesterday [...], it's impressive."
