Marlies Close out Road Swing in Springfield
February 16, 2019 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies (25-18-5-3) close out their three-game road swing Saturday night with a stop in Springfield to take on the Thunderbirds (21-21-6-4). Tonight is the second meeting of the season between these two teams, with the Marlies holding a 1-0 lead in the season series after doubling up on the Thunderbirds 4-2 on February 9th.
Coming into tonight's game, both teams will be looking to snap a losing skid as points become more and more crucial. The Marlies have dropped their last three and currently sit fourth in the North Division while the Thunderbirds are on a five-game slump and sit seventh in the Atlantic Division.
The Marlies have slipped to 13-8-1-3 on the road and although they currently sit second in the conference in away goals (106), they haven't seen the results they were hoping for on this road trip. Following yesterday's loss, head coach Sheldon Keefe spoke to the importance of fine-tuning the little details to ensure they come away with something on this trip. "We play a fine game in terms of our process and controlled a lot of play but those are the little things that determine whether you win or lose and we're coming up on the wrong side of it."
Puck drops at 7:05 PM on AHLTV.
