May 5, 2022 - International League (IL)
Rochester Red Wings News Release
DEJA-VU: The Wings shut out Scranton/WB 2-0 tonight, holding the Yankees' top affiliate scoreless through the first two games of the series...the last time a Red Wings club shut out the opposition in back-to-back games was August 26-27, 2015, when the club blanked Syracuse through 18 innings.
GAR-SEE-YA: Luis Garcia crushed a solo-shot in the bottom half of the first, giving him his team-leading sixth (6) long-ball of the season, pushing him ahead of Joey Meneses (5)...of his six homers, five have come in front of the home crowd at Frontier Field.
TRIPLE THREAT: A fourth-inning triple by Luis Garcia gave the Wings their league-leading 10th three-bagger of the season in just 26 games, pushing them ahead of Indianapolis (9)...it took the club 68 games to reach the double-digit mark last season.
YOUNG MONEY: With a fifth-inning single, Andrew Young extend his on-base streak to a team-high 13 games, setting a high mark for any Wings player this season...Young is 9-for-39 (.231) during this span, getting on base at a .423 clip...he also ranks first among Red Wings hitters in base-on-balls (10)...the righty picked up his first stolen base of the year.
I'M SORRY MS. JACKSON, I AM FOR REAL: Jackson Tetreault logged his best start of the season tonight, working 5.2 shut-out innings, allowing just three hits and punching out four en-route to his first win of the season...the Opening Day starter ranks first among Red Wing pitchers in innings pitched (28.1), strikeouts (24).
RUNNIN' WILD: After Andrew Young and Nick Banks swiped a bag each tonight, the Wings bring their season stolen base total to 25, while only being caught twice...this success rate of 93% ranks first in the International League.
Syracuse Notes
NO LOVE: RHP Luis Gil went 5.0 innings, giving up two runs, on three hits, while striking out a season high nine batters...the top Yankees prospect improves his ERA to 9.53 through five starts, while his record drops to 0-3.
