RoadRunners Swap Ortmeyer To Trenton For Chris Cava

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, an affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have acquired defenseman Chris Cava from the Trenton Titans in exchange for defenseman Jake Ortmeyer.

Cava, 26, has one goal, nine assists, and 108 penalty minutes through 34 games this season with the Titans and Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native and sixth-year professional signed with Trenton as a free agent following a year in which he matched a career-high with seven goals while adding 18 assists and 191 penalty minutes in 51 games between the Columbia Inferno and the San Diego Gulls. Cava earned his first career promotion to the AHL earlier this season as he appeared in two games with the Senators in November. He was also recognized as the HOK Sport ECHL Plus Performer for the month of October after leading the league with a plus-eight rating. Cava has recorded 20 goals, 65 assists, 85 points, and 1,081 penalty minutes in 313 career games.

Ortmeyer tallied eight goals and 20 points in 38 games with the RoadRunners.

In separate transactions, the RoadRunners have activated forward Todd Jackson from the three-day injured reserve while placing center Brett Smith on the three-day injured reserve.

Phoenix returns to US Airways Center at 7:11 p.m. Tuesday as they welcome the Stockton Thunder. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
