Friday, October 12 - RIVERMEN 1 @ San Antonio 2: The San Antonio Rampage handed the Rivermen its first defeat of the season on Friday night in a 2-1 decision. Michal Birner scored the only goal of the game with a power play marker in the third period. Enver Lisin scored the game-winning-goal at 8:03 of the final frame. Jason Bacashihua stopped 21 shots in the loss for Peoria.
Saturday, October 13 - RIVERMEN 3 @ Houston 1: Peoria rebounded nicely after its first defeat of the year to down the Houston Aeros 3-1 on Saturday night. Mike Glumac set up all three Rivermen markers while Yan Stastny scored the first and third goals in the win. Alexander Hellstrom's shot from the point at 6:11 of the third period stood for the game-winner. Marek Schwarz notched his second straight win to open the season with 26 saves.
POWER OUTAGE
The Rivermen penalty killers continue to do their job every night, stopping the first 24 shorthanded chances against to open the season. Toronto is the only other AHL team remaining to have not allowed a power play goal, turning aside 15 chances in three games.
ROAD WARRIORS
Peoria has run its record on the road to 2-1-0-0 in three road games, scoring eight goals for and allowing just five against in those contests. Peoria also has all three of its power play goals on the road thus far.
FIRSTS
Mike Glumac recorded three assists in Saturday's game, the first time this season a Rivermen player has done so... Alexander Hellstrom's game-winning-goal on Saturday was his first marker of the year... Both Quad City and Chicago visit the Rivermen for the first time in the regular season this weekend.
HOT STICK
Yan Stastny's two goals on Saturday vaulted him into a tie for the Rivermen points lead at four. Glumac (1-3-4) and Charles Linglet (0-4-4) are also tied with Stastny for the team lead.
