Canucks recall Edler

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have recalled defenceman Alexander Edler from the Moose.

Edler, 21, has appeared in two games with the Moose so far this year and has recorded an assist. The native of Ostersund, Sweden was named Manitoba's Rookie of the Year in 2006-07 after appearing in 49 games and scoring five goals and 21 assists for 26 points and 28 penalty minutes from the blueline. Edler also appeared in eight Calder Cup playoff games last year with the Moose where he collected two penalty minutes. Edler played in 22 games in his rookie season with the Vancouver Canucks, where he scored a goal and had two assists for three points and six penalty minutes. He also appeared in three Stanley Cup playoff games for Vancouver

Edler was originally Vancouver's third round draft choice, 91st overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
