Forever Young In Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame

Chicago Wolves Assistant Coach and former goaltender Wendell Young will be inducted to the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at a ceremony on Fri., Oct. 19.

Young is the only man in hockey history to win all four major North American championships: the Stanley Cup, Turner Cup, Calder Cup and Memorial Cup. The Halifax native is entering his fifth year as the Wolves assistant coach and executive director of team relations after concluding an 18-year professional playing career in 2001.

"It's an honor to be recognized in the place I grew up," said Young. "The ceremony is going to be very special for me, and I'm excited to be able to share it with my family and some of my closest friends."

The franchise leader among goaltenders in games-played (322), wins (169), saves (8,467), minutes played (17,912), and shutouts (16), Young helped the Wolves capture the 1998 and 2000 Wolves Turner Cup Championships.

Prior to joining Chicago, he spent 10 years in the National Hockey League, which includes stints with the Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning, as well as being a member of the 1991 and 1992 Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Championship teams.
