
Admirals Look to Right Ship At Home Port

NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Admirals will look to turn things around in their first two home games this weekend following a 1-2 record in three road games this past weekend. On Friday in Bridgeport, the Admirals were shut out for the first time in 91 games as they fell to the Sound Tigers 2-0. Norfolk bounced back on Saturday in Albany as Ryan Munce stopped 36 of 37 shots in regulation and all five shooters in the shootout in a 2-1 win over the River Rats. On Sunday afternoon in Springfield, the Admirals allowed three goals in a three-minute span in the third period as they fell 4-3 to the Falcons.
The Admirals open the home portion of their 2007-08 schedule with Friday and Saturday contests against the Binghamton Senators. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. for both games. The first 5,000 fans through the gates on Friday will receive a 2007-08 Norfolk Admirals Magnetic Schedule courtesy of Bath Fitter.

- Admirals goaltender Karri Ramo suffered a high ankle sprain in practice on Wednesday and is expected to be out of the lineup for 3-4 weeks. Goaltender Morgan Cey was recalled from Mississippi (ECHL) on Thursday and appeared in one game before being returned to the Sea Wolves today. Goaltender Jonathan Boutin was summoned from Mississippi today.
- Norfolk netminder Ryan Munce made his AHL debut on Friday in Bridgeport. He earned his first AHL victory on Saturday in Albany, stopping 36 of 37 shots and all five Albany shootout attempts. On the weekend, Munce stopped 63 of 66 shots for a .955 save percentage and 1.44 goals-against average.
- Mike Egener posted one goal and one assist on Sunday in Springfield to obtain two-thirds of his point total in 75 games with Springfield in 2006-07 (0g, 3a)
- After opponents posted a 27.8% (5-18) power play rating in the first two games of the season, the Admirals have limited opponents to a 13.3% (2-15) power play rating over the last two games.
- Norfolk is 1-29 (3.4% ) on the power play this season
- Only four AHL teams have later dates than Norfolk's Friday home opener for the start of their 2007-08 home schedule: Providence (11/14), Rockford (11/02), Grand Rapids (10/20) and Hershey (10/20)
