UPCOMING OPPONENTS
Saturday October 20- Phantoms vs. Providence Bruins, 7:05: The P-Bruins (Boston Bruins) find themselves in third place in the Atlantic Division with a 2-2 record after the first two weeks of the season. Providence is living a nomadic existence for the next month - they won't play their home opener until November 14, when a $62 million dollar renovation of the Dunkin' Donuts Center is complete. The Phantoms swept the home-and-home season series between the two teams a year ago. Matt Hussey is the team's leading scorer with two goals in the young campaign.
CELEBRATE 40 YEARS OF HOCKEY AT THE WACHOVIA SPECTRUM
This week is the 40th anniversary of the first Flyers game at the Spectrum, which took place on October 19, 1967. The Phantoms are honoring that team with Flyers Flashback Night on Saturday, October 20 when they host the Providence Bruins at 7:05. The Phantoms will be wearing special jerseys designed after the 1967-68 Flyers jerseys, and those jerseys will be auctioned off following the game. Also, the first 7,000 fans will receive a commemorative poster courtesy of Dietz & Watson, and four Flyers alumni involved in that first game - players Joe Watson, Gary Dornhoefer and Bernie Parent and team publicist Joe Kadlec - will be on hand to greet fans and sign autographs.
BOUCHER NOMINATED FOR PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Phantoms nominated Brian Boucher for Rbk/AHL Player of the Week honors again this week. Boucher pushed his record on the season to 4-0 with two wins this weekend, including a 3-0 shutout of Albany at the Wachovia Spectrum. He made 37 saves in the shutout and was the No. 1 star. The next night, Boucher made 26 saves in a 3-2 win at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. One of those saves was a game-saving stop on a Tyler Kennedy penalty shot, which came in the third period and would have tied the game if converted. For the weekend, Boucher posted a 1.00 goals-against average and a .969 save percentage.
PHANTOMS NOTABLES
The Phantoms are 5-0 for the first time in team history. The club had posted records of 4-1 before, most recently in 2005-06 and before that in 2001-02.
