Reid and Werner Get the Call

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and head coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that Matt Reid and Stephen Werner have been called-up to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

This marks Reid's second call-up this season, after playing one game with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers last week. The Massena, NY native leads the Stingrays in goals, with 22, after his first hat trick of the season last Friday night against the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Reid, 5'10", 190-pounds, has played 36 games with the Rays and has 48 points on the year.

Werner, 22, started the season with the Hershey Bears and was sent to the Stingrays on Dec. 6 2006. The right-winger from Chevy Chase, MD is in his first professional season after playing four years of college hockey at University of Massachusetts - Amherst. Werner is a third round draft pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. At 6'1", 210-pounds, Werner has 15 points (9g-6a) in 24 games with the Stingrays this season.
