ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades finished the past week by going 1-1-2. The Everblades head into this week's action with a record of 35-17-4 (74 pts, 1st South Div.).
THIS WEEK (All Times Eastern)
Tuesday, March 6 at Gwinnett Gladiators 7:05 p.m.
GAME NOTES: The Everblades wrap up their four-game road trip against the Gladiators on Tuesday night. The game is the ninth of ten between the teams and the fourth of five at Gwinnett. The Everblades hold a 3-4-1 record vs. Gwinnett this season. The Gladiators won the most recent meeting 4-2 on Feb. 23. In Gwinnett this season the Everblades are 1-2-0. The Gladiators enter this week with a record of 33-17-6, (72 pts., 3rd, South Div.). The Everblades hold an all-time record of 12-14-5 vs. Gwinnett and are 5-9-0 all-time on the road vs. the Gladiators.
Friday & Saturday, March 9 & 10 vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots Both Games 7:30 p.m.
GAME NOTES: The Everblades return home to start a four-game home stand on the weekend with a pair of games vs. Pensacola. The games are the eighth and ninth of 11 between the clubs. The 'Blades hold a record of 5-1-1 vs. Pensacola this season and have won the last two. Florida won the last meeting 5-1 on Feb. 10 at Germain Arena. The Ice Pilots enter this week's action with a record of 18-37-3 (39 pts., 8th, South Div.). The Everblades hold an all-time record of 42-12-10 vs. Pensacola and are 23-5-6 all-time at home vs. the Ice Pilots.
LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Tuesday, February 27 vs. Augusta 6-3 W
The Everblades notched their sixth win in their last seven games by upending the Augusta Lynx for the sixth straight time this season. The 'Blades scored the game's first three goals, picking up first period markers from Vince Bellissimo and Dustin Johner, then adding a second period power play tally by Johner as well. The Lynx responded by scoring the next three, two in the second period and one in the third, to tie the game, but the Everblades exploded for three goals in the last half of the third period. Defenseman Chris Dyment scored two of the third period goals, both on the power play, and Brad Parsons notched the other, also on the power play. In net, Craig Kowalski picked up the win by stopping 24 of 27 shots. Florida Special Teams: PP: 4-for-8; PK: 5-for-6.
Friday, March 2 at Augusta 2-1 L
The Everblades suffered their first loss of the season to Augusta after falling 2-1 to the Lynx on Friday night. After a scoreless first period, the Lynx scored a pair of second period goals to grab a 2-0 advantage heading into the third period. The Everblades trailed 2-0 until the late stages of the frame when Dustin Johner scored with 2:57 remaining in regulation. Despite some hard pressure at the end, the Everblades couldn't find the equalizer as the 'Blades fell to 6-1-0 vs. Augusta. In goal, Craig Kowalski suffered the loss after turning away 36 of 38 shots. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-4, PK: 6-for-7.
Saturday, March 3 at Columbia 2-1 OTL
The Everblades earned a point in the standings after dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to the Inferno. For the second straight game, the Everblades played to a scoreless tie after the first 20 minutes. In the second period, Columbia got on the board first with a short-handed tally midway through the frame. The Everblades came back to tie the contest on Brad Parsons' 8th goal of the season five minutes into the period, but the Inferno prevailed in overtime with the game-winner coming with 1:09 remaining in the extra session. In net, Craig Kowalski got credit for a tie after a spectacular game, stopping 32 of 34 shots, including turning away a pair of breakaways for Columbia in the overtime. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-4, PK: 6-for-6.
Sunday, March 4 at Charotte 5-4 OTL `
The Everblades saw their winless streak hit three after falling 5-4 in overtime to the Checkers on Sunday afternoon. In a back-and -forth contest it was the Everblades that drew first blood. Derek Damon scored on the game's first shift just 25 seconds into the first period to give the 'Blades a 1-0 lead. Charlotte battled back to score the game's next three goals before Florida stormed back with a pair of second period tallies to tie the game. Brad Parsons trimmed the lead to one and Damon tied the game with a power play goal just over a minute later. Charlotte however added a late second period marker to regain the lead heading into the third period. For the second straight game, the Everblades found a way to tie the game in the third period when Adam Taylor notched a 5-on-3 power ply goal. In overtime the Checkers picked up the game winner with just 35 seconds remaining in the extra session. In goal, Craig Kowalski made his 12th straight start and earned a tie in the standings by stopping 23 of 28 shots. Florida special teams: PP: 2-for-9, PK: 7-for-8.
