Johnstown Chiefs News Release


The Chiefs hosted Dayton on Wednesday, losing at home 4-1, and Toledo on Sunday, earning a 3-1 victory at the War Memorial. Johnstown traveled to Reading on Friday, losing 3-2 at the Sovereign Center and to Wheeling on Saturday, dopping a 3-2 decision in a shootout at WesBanco Arena.

Great Performances:

Grant Jacobsen had goals in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.

Maxime Boisclair scored his first goal since February 11 on Sunday.

Morgan Cey took a shutout into the last two minutes of the game on Sunday before surrendering a goal to Toledo's Mike Walsh. Cey made 33 saves to earn the win.

Last week's games:

February 28 Vs. Dayton (1-4 L)

Randy Rowe got the Chiefs on the scoreboard first, but Dayton came back with four unanswered goals to get the win in Johnstown. The Chiefs were 0-for-5 on the power play, and Morgan Cey made 27 saves on 31 shots to earn the win.

March 2 @ Reading (2-3 L)

Grant Jacobsen got the Chiefs on the board, and Gus Katsuras added a power-play goal, but the Chiefs were unable to get the win, as Reading bested Johnstown for the first time in regulation this season. The Chiefs went 1-for-4 on the power play and Ryan Munce made25-of-28 saves, taking the loss.

March 3 @ Wheeling (2-3 SOL)

Brandon Elliott scored his first goal since returning from Springfield of the American Hockey League, and Grant Jacobsen scored in his second consecutive game, but Wheeling was able to earn the win in the shootout. Johnstown was 0-for-2 on the power play, and Morgan Cey made 35 saves in regulation and overtime and stopped three-of-five shooters in the shootout.

March 4 Vs. Toledo (3-1 W)

The Chiefs got goals from Zbynek Hrdel and Maxime Boisclair ten seconds apart in the second period, and Eric Przepiorka added a goal in the third period as the Chiefs defeated Toledo on home ice. Johnstown was 0-for-13 on the man-advantage and Morgan Cey made 33 saves to earn the win.
