LAST WEEK: Fresno went 2-1-1 during its four-game home stand last week, recording a pair of wins against Cincinnati, while falling to Victoria in regulation and in a shootout. The Falcons enter the week in third place of the Pacific Division with a record of 30-21-5 for 65 points.

Tuesday, February 27 vs. Cincinnati FALCONS 5 Cyclones 0

Fresno opened its four-game home stand with a 5-0 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones. Luke Curtin notched the Falcons' second hat trick of the season, and added two assists, while John Morlang added a goal and two assists of his own. Ryan MacDonald stopped all 35 Cincinnati shots to record his first professional shutout.

Friday, March 2 vs. Victoria Salmon Kings 3 FALCONS 1

The Falcons saw their four-game winning streak come to an with a 3-1 loss to Victoria. The Salmon Kings scored twice late in the first period, and added another tally late in the second to take a 3-0 lead into the final period. Luke Curtin pulled the Falcons within two, scoring his 17th of the season 3:13 into the third period, but that was as close as Fresno would get.

Saturday, March 3 vs. Victoria Salmon Kings 4 FALCONS 3 (SO)

Trailing 1-0 after one period, the Falcons pulled even 3:57 into the second period on John Morlang's team-leading 22nd goal of the season. John Wroblewski put the Falcons ahead late in the second with a power-play goal. But, Victoria came back to take the lead scoring two goals just 35 seconds apart early in the third. Morlang answered with the tying goal 26 seconds after the Salmon Kings went ahead to tie the score, and force overtime. After a scoreless overtime, the game went to a shootout where the Salmon Kings scored twice on four attempts, while the Falcons managed just one goal on five shots.

Sunday, March 4 vs. Cincinnati FALCONS 3 Cyclones 2

Dave Borrelli, traded by Cincinnati to Fresno in December, tallied his first professional hat trick against his former team, leading the Falcons to a 3-2 win on Sunday. Borrelli gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead scoring two goals in the first 9:12 of play. Cincinnati scored late in the first and again early in the second to tie the score. But, Borrelli put Fresno ahead for good, and capped his hat trick, with a power-play goal at 8:08 of the second period. Scott Stirling took over from there, finishing with 27 saves to pick up his 12th win of the season.

Fresno and Idaho meet in a pivotal three-game series at Qwest Arena in Boise. If the playoffs began today, the Falcons would meet the Steelheads in the first round. The Steelheads currently hold a two-point lead over the Falcons for home-ice advantage with a record of 31-19-5 for 67 points. Idaho is 2-0-0 against Fresno this season, winning two games at Save Mart Center in late November.

- Fresno leads the ECHL with 20 shorthanded goals, the fourth-highest total in league history. The league record for shorthanded goals is 24, set by the Louisiana IceGators in 1998-99.

- After having just one hat trick in the first 52 games of the season, the Falcons had two hat tricks in four games last week, with Luke Curtin scoring three goals on Tuesday, and Dave Borrelli notching a trio on Sunday.

- John Morlang has set career highs in goals (23) and points (55).

- Fresno is 5-0-1 in the third game of a three-game in three-day series this season.

FALCONS RETURN HOME ON MARCH 16

Following their four-game road trip to Idaho and Las Vegas, the Falcons return to Save Mart Center for a four-game home stand. The home stand opens on Friday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. as the Alaska Aces return to Fresno for the first time since last season's National Conference Finals.
