Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans went 1-2-0 during their three-game, three-day weekend in Ohio and fell into a tie for fourth place in the North Division with the Toledo Storm. The Titans opened their week with a two-game set against the Storm and were defeated in the first contest, 4-3. Trenton would not be denied the following evening versus Toledo, taking a 4-2 decision, but a Sunday matinee to finish the weekend saw the Dayton Bombers shutout the Titans, 6-0. Trenton returns to the Sovereign Bank Arena to host three games this week. The Johnstown Chiefs come into town on Wednesday, while the Toledo Storm battle the Titans on Friday and Saturday.
STRUCK DOWN BY STORM: A back-and-forth game between Trenton and Toledo ended with the Titans on the wrong side of a 4-3 final at the Toledo Sports Arena. Trailing 1-0 after the first intermission, Scott Bertoli scored both shorthanded and on the power play to give Trenton a one-goal edge heading into the third. In the final period, the Storm only needed 1:07 to retake their lead when Matt Zultek and Taylor Raszka scored during that span to make it 3-2. Though Bryan Miller was able to the score with 4:30 left in the game, Bruce Mulherin notched the game-winner thirty-nine seconds later to record the win for Toledo.
CALMING THE STORM: Benoit Mondou's two, third-period goals allowed the Titans to come from behind to score a 4-2 victory over the Storm on Saturday. While Trenton out shot Toledo 19-11 in the first period, the score remained tied at 1-1 after goals by Scott Bertoli and Chris Blight. In middle frame, Gerry Burke registered the lone marker for either team to give Toledo the slight edge heading into third. There, it was Mondou scoring even-strength before notching one on a man-advantage late in the contest to allow the Titans to skate away with the win.
BLASTED BY THE BOMBERS: The Titans lost for the first time this season at the Nutter Center and also suffered their fourth shutout of the year in a 6-0 defeat at the hands of the Dayton Bombers. Dmitri Chernykh potted the only marker Dayton would need at 18:11 of the first, but the Bombers furthered their lead to three when Justin Maiser and Brent Walton scored 1:33 apart to end the second period. Though the Titans came out hard in the third looking to get on the board, a shorthanded goal by Paul Kelly at 4:24 kicked out the legs of any comeback effort by Trenton.
500 AGAIN FOR BERTOLI!: Scott Bertoli scored two goals on Friday against the Toledo Storm and in the process notched the 500th point of his Titans and ECHL career. Currently the Titans' all-time leader in games played (491), goals (170), assists (332) and points (502), Bertoli has also registered five points (2g, 3a) in 13 AHL contests. He is the active team leader with 36 assists and 55 points (19g, 36a).
QUICK HITS: The Titans have allowed only two power play goals in their last six games (31-for-33, 93.9%)... Scott Bertoli scored three of the Titans' seven goals this past weekend... Benoit Mondou's two-goal game on Saturday was his third multi-goal game of the season.
ALONG THE BOARDS: "Along the Boards," the Trenton Titans' weekly talk radio show, is off this week, but returns on Wednesday, March 14 at 7pm to the Morrisville Tavern. "Along the Boards" can be heard on WBCB-1490AM following The Bill Clement Show. The Morrisville Tavern is located at 376 West Trenton Ave in Trenton, NJ.

Saturday, March 10, 12:00pm - Titans vs. Toledo Storm
The Toledo Storm complete their four-game schedule at the Titans' arena with a two-game set this weekend.
