Redbirds Walked off in Third Consecutive Loss to Sounds

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds continued a 12-game road trip with a 7-6 loss at the Nashville Sounds at First Horizon Park on Thursday night.

For the second consecutive start, Adam Kloffenstein tossed 5.0 scoreless innings. In the loss at Nashville, the right-handed pitcher allowed just one hit, walked four and struck out one batter. The Memphis bullpen allowed seven runs, each scoring in the seventh inning or later.

Third baseman Cesar Prieto, catcher Tres Barrera and second baseman Juniel Querecuto led the way defensively as each put together a multi-hit night. Prieto and Querecuto (2) both added at least one RBI. First baseman Juan Yepez roped his 20th double of the season in the third inning to put the Redbirds ahead 1-0.

Memphis has now lost the first three games in the six-game series at Nashville and has dropped four consecutive games.

The Redbirds (64-71) return to AutoZone Park on Tuesday, Sept. 19 to begin the final homestand of the season at 6:45p.m. CDT against the Charlotte Knights.
