RailRiders Succumb to Late Columbus Rally

Columbus, OH (September 7) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders dropped 2-1 to the Columbus Clippers. The team held a 1-0 advantage through seven, but were walked off in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Another pitcher's duel ensued at the start of the contest with competing shutout bids.

The RailRiders got one hit off the opposing starter, but it was a big one. Michael Hermosillo crushed a ball over the left field wall 386 feet for a 1-0 advantage.

Will Warren went seven shutout innings allowing just three hits and two free passes. He tied a career-high nine strikeouts.

The Clippers tied things up in the eighth inning with a solo shot off the bat of Raynel Delgado.

Columbus came through in the bottom of the ninth to walk things off. Kyle Manzardo doubled to reach, advanced to third, and came home on a groundout for the 2-1 win.

Aaron McGarity (L, 6-3) allowed two runs in his inning and a third. Josh Maciejewski closed out the game.

Zach Plesac impressed with eight innings off one run ball. Tim Herrin (W, 6-2) tossed a scoreless frame.

The RailRiders and Clippers continue their series tomorrow at 7:05 PM. Righty Clayton Beeter is slated to get the Friday night start.
