Iowa Cubs News Release
DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (72-56) dropped their season-long sixth straight game, falling to the Omaha Storm Chasers (61-69), by a score of 8-2, Thursday at Principal Park.
Both teams cashed in runs in the first inning, with Omaha scoring on a sacrifice fly from Clay Dungan and Iowa scoring on an RBI single from Jared Young. An error from the I-Cubs put Omaha back in front in the third, leading 2-1.
As he did in the first, Young tied the game again in the third with a solo home run. The deep fly marked his third straight game with a home run and fourth of the series through the first three games.
It didn't stay tied for long, as Nate Eaton used a solo home run in the fourth inning to put the Storm Chasers back in front, 3-2. They padded their lead in the fifth on a two-run double from Eaton and scored two more in the seventh to go up 7-2.
Doubles from Devin Mann, Angelo Castellano and Samad Taylor pushed Omaha's lead to 10-2 and that is where the game would stay, as Jonathan Heasley closed out the game with 1.1 scoreless innings.
