MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds defeated the Gwinnett Stripers by a final score of 3-0 on Thursday night at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, Georgia for the team's fourth-straight win.

Starting pitcher Dakota Hudson weaved in and out of trouble all night and posted his best start of the young season. The right-handed pitcher tossed 6.0 innings of shutout baseball, struck out seven batters and worked around eight hits. Three of Hudson's strikeouts came with two runners on base to end the inning.

MLB Rehabber Paul DeJong put Memphis on top in the first inning. The right-handed hitter laced a single up the middle to drive in second baseman Masyn Winn, who doubled earlier in the inning. After Memphis tallied three hits in the first inning, the Redbirds would not find the hit column again until the top of the sixth.

With Memphis hanging on to a 1-0 lead in the top of the eighth inning, first baseman Juniel Querecuto came to the plate with two runners on. Querecuto drilled a double to bring home DeJong and center fielder Oscar Mercado to give Memphis some insurance.

Relievers Kyle Leahy and JoJo Romero combined for three shutout innings to finish out the game, with Romero earning his first save of the season.

Left-handed pitcher Connor Thomas is scheduled to start for Memphis in game four of the series tomorrow night at 6:05p.m. CDT at Gwinnett.

The Redbirds (7-5) return to AutoZone Park on Tuesday, April 18 to take on the Indianapolis Indians at 6:45 p.m. to begin a six-game homestand.
