Knights Lose to Jumbo Shrimp 7-2 on Thursday

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped game three of the six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp by a score of 7-2 on Thursday night at Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The Knights scored two runs on five hits in the game.

Right fielder Víctor Reyes continued his strong season and drove home one of Charlotte's two runs in the game. Reyes, who had two hits in Wednesday's night game, went 1-for-3 with an RBI single. Center fielder Adam Haseley drove home Charlotte's second run of the game on an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jacksonville right fielder Jerar Encarnacíon led the way with a three-run home run in Thursday's contest. He finished the game 2-for-3 with the home run and three RBIs. He also drew two walks in the game. In all, the Jumbo Shrimp scored seven runs on 13 hits.

Charlotte RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon (0-0, 11.57), who was signed by the Chicago White Sox and added to Charlotte's roster on Wednesday, started Thursday's game for the Knights. The 31-year-old allowed three runs on three hits over 2.1 innings pitched and was saddled with the loss.

Thursday's loss was Charlotte's third of the series to the Jumbo Shrimp.

The Knights will continue the six-game series on Friday night against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins). First pitch on Friday is set for 7:04 p.m. from Truist Field. Fans can listen to the game live on www.CharlotteKnights.com.
