Memphis Redbirds News Release
DURHAM, NC - Following a one hour and 30-minute rain delay, the Memphis Redbirds dropped game four of a six-game series to the Durham Bulls on Friday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park by a final score of 13-0.
The Redbirds immediately got a runner in scoring position to start the ballgame as leadoff hitter and center fielder Ben DeLuzio doubled. Three outs followed and Memphis stranded DeLuzio at second base. Memphis place a total of three runners in scoring position with no outs in the first three innings and stranded all three runners.
Third baseman Irving Lopez had the best day at the plate of any Redbird batter, going 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. Memphis recorded just five hits in the game, walked once and tallied a total of seven base runners.
Reliever TJ McFarland pitched another scoreless inning in his second MLB Rehab appearance with the Redbirds, facing three batters. The left-handed pitcher recorded one strikeout, allowed one hit and rolled a double play. In total, Memphis pitching allowed a season-high six home runs in the loss.
The Memphis Redbirds (44-38) return to action on Saturday, July 9 against the Durham Bulls (45-37) at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina.
