Buffalo Bisons News Release

BUFFALO, NY - A pair of home runs by Chavez Young and LJ Talley propelled the Bisons to a 6-1 win over the Syracuse Mets on Friday night from Sahlen Field.

The Herd jumped on Mets starter David Griffin for six runs over his three innings of work, beginning with a leadoff triple by Otto López who came around to score on an RBI single by Jordan Groshans in the first.

Groshans was then driven in by Young's third home run of the season to put the Herd out in front 3-0. Young has now homered in consecutive games and has raised his batting average by 61 points over the past three weeks.

LJ Tally got in on the action in third by smoking a line drive to the deepest part of the ballpark for his first career Triple-A home run to drive in Spencer Horwitz and Cullen Large and double the Bison lead.

Mike Ellenbest opened the game with two innings of one-hit ball, before Anthony Kay took over and had his best outing of the season. Kay was touching 96 with his fastball and getting ahead of batters with his curveball en route to four punchouts over 2.2 innings; his lone blemish was a solo home run given up to Gosuke Katoh.

Kyle Johnston worked around a pair of errors in his 2.1 scoreless innings while Tayler Saucedo and Matt Gage combined to pitch a clean eighth. Gage then stuck around and threw a 1-2-3 ninth to finish things off and secure the win.

The Bisons and Mets will play their second-to-last game in this seven-game series tomorrow evening, with Thomas Hatch set to face Nate Fisher at 6:05 p.m. EST.
