Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC- The Durham Bulls (45-37) blasted six home runs to rout the Memphis Redbirds (44-38) 13-0 on Friday evening in game four of their six-game set at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. With the win, the Bulls now lead 3-1 in the series, clinching at least a share of the series.
Durham got on the board in the first as RF Miles Mastrobuoni led off the inning with a solo shot. The Bulls would remain hot at the plate in the second as DH Ford Proctor tattooed another lead off solo shot for Durham for the 2-0 lead before 1B Jonathan Aranda connected on a three-run double to round out the four-run frame.
SS Tristan Gray went deep in the third at the plate on a two-run shot to give Durham their third homer of the night and a 7-0 lead, while C Joe Hudson took his turn rounding the bases on another two-run homer in the fifth, hitting the iconic Snorting Bull sign. Hudson would take another lap around the bases in the seventh, blasting his second two-run shot of the contest to put the Bulls up 11-0. LF Luke Raley in the eighth became the fifth Bulls player to homer with a solo shot before Gray capped the Bulls' scoring with an RBI single.
Bulls pitcher Kevin Herget picked up the win and improved to 6-0 on the season after six scoreless innings of work, allowing five hits and ringing up six strikeouts. With Friday's performance, Herget has allowed one run in his last 16 innings pitched. The Durham relief pitching staff of Pete Fairbanks, Dalton Moats and Phoenix Sanders picked up right where Herget left off, combining for three hitless innings while ringing up five strikeouts. Ryan Loutos picked up the loss for Memphis.
The Bulls are set to return to the DBAP for game five against the Memphis Redbirds on Saturday night. RHP Easton McGee is expected to start for the Bulls and be opposed by RHP Tommy Parsons. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
