BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - A franchise-high six power play goals powered the Sound Tigers past the Albany Devils, 7-2 on Saturday night at Webster Bank Arena.
Harry Zolnierczyk got the scoring started for the Sound Tigers as he notched a power play goal 1:56 into the opening frame. His shot went just above above the right shoulder of Devils netminder Scott Wedgewood putting the Sound Tigers up 1-0. Mike Halmo and Griffin Reinhart picked up helpers on the goal. Zolnierczyk had a two-goal game - scoring the first and last goals of the game.
Alan Quine also had a multi-point game as he picked up a goal and two assists. He scored a power play goal to put the Sound Tigers up 2-0 at the end of the first.
The second frame opened with back-to-back penalty kills for the Sound Tigers as Colin McDonald and Aaron Ness each received minor penalties. Despite killing McDonald's cross-checking infraction, Devils defenseman Peter Harrold's one-time shot found the back of the Sound Tigers net while Ness was in the box.
The Sound Tigers responded with goals from Halmo and John Persson 26 seconds apart to give the Sound Tigers a 4-1 lead. With four goals scored out of 12 Sound Tigers shots, the Devils pulled Wedgewood from the net at 7:47 mark of the second frame and Scott Clemmensen played the remainder of the game between the pipes for Albany.
McDonald notched a power play goal, his first of the season, at 17:03 of the second period, extending the Sound Tigers lead to 5-1. Albany would get on the board again with a goal from left-winger Chris McKelvie.
Kael Mouillierat and Zolnierczyk each tallied power play goals in the third frame for a final score of 7-2 over Albany.
Contributing to the Sound Tigers 7-2 victory was goalie Kevin Poulin who stopped 34 of the Devils 36 shots - it is his third victory in as many games.
The Sound Tigers host the Albany Devils again tomorrow Sunday, November 9 th for Military Appreciation Night - the puck drops at 3 PM.

Tonight's six power play goals sets a franchise record for most Sound Tigers power play goals in one game...Harry Zolnierczyk had a two-goal game and continues to lead the Sound Tigers in points with 13 (5G-8A)...Zolnierczyk has tallied a point in each of the last five games...Following Zolnierczyk in points is Alan Quine who has three goals and nine assists. He had a three-point game in tonight's tilt and has a six-game point streak.
