Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs announced today that the canned food drive on Saturday, November 1 prior to the team's home game against St. John's raised over 400 pounds of food for the New Hampshire Food Bank.

"We are thrilled with the generosity displayed by our fans last week," Monarchs President Darren Abbott said. "The Monarchs are proud to make this donation to the New Hampshire Food Bank thanks to our fans."

The donation of 437 pounds of food will provide approximately 364 meals to those in need in New Hampshire.

Last year, the New Hampshire Food Bank distributed over eight million pounds of food. The Food Bank works with nearly 400 partner agencies throughout the state. According to the New Hampshire Food Bank website, one in nine individuals in the state are food insecure and over 40,000 children under the age of 18 are food insecure in New Hampshire.

The Monarchs return to the ice tonight with a 7 p.m. game against Springfield at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The team will pay tribute to the Manchester Regional Youth Hockey Association by wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned after the game.
