
Blue Jackets Recall Dana Tyrell, Assign Marko Dano to Falcons

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled forward Dana Tyrell from the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons and assigned rookie forward Marko Dano to the club's AHL affiliate, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Tyrell, 25, has collected five goals and four assists for nine points with six penalty minutes and a +7 plus/minus rating in seven games with Springfield this season. Acquired by the Blue Jackets in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Mar. 3, 2014, he has registered 24 points (7g, 17a) and 26 penalty minutes in 132 career NHL games, including four penalty minutes in seven outings with the Lightning during the 2013-14 season. He appeared in a NHL career-high 78 games in 2010-11, tallying 15 points (6g, 9a) and 12 penalty minutes.
Selected by Tampa Bay in the second round, 47th overall, of the 2007 NHL Draft, Tyrell has posted 101 points (39g, 62a) and 73 penalty minutes in 188 career AHL games and won a Calder Cup championship with the Norfolk Admirals in 2011-12. In 2013-14, he combined for 33 points (15g, 18a) with 20 penalty minutes and an even plus/minus rating in 63 games with Springfield and Syracuse. The 5-10, 195-pound native of Airdrie, Alberta played four seasons with Prince George of the Western Hockey League, registering 179 points (81g, 98a) and 171 penalty minutes in 240 career games from 2004-08.
Dano, 19, has tallied two points (1g, 1a) and averaged 11:42 TOI per game in eight outings with the Blue Jackets this season. The club's third first round pick, 27th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft spent the past two seasons with the KHL's HC Sloven. He registered 12 points (6g, 6a) and 67 penalty minutes in 78 games with the club, including five points (3g, 2a) and 41 penalty minutes in 41 games in 2013-14. He also represented Slovakia at the 2013 World Championships and 2013 and 2014 World Junior Championships.
