Reading Works Sign and Trade Deals With Fresno and Bakersfield

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced the signing of goaltender Jamie Hodson and in turn have traded his rights to the Fresno Falcons for financial considerations. In addition, Reading signed defenseman Likit Andersson and traded his rights to Bakersfield for financial considerations. The Royals added goaltender Matt Yeats to the roster as an emergency back-up goaltender for this weekend.

Hodson, a fourth-year professional, has not played a game this season. In 2003-04 he split time with the Greensboro Generals of the ECHL and the American Hockey League's St. John's Maple Leafs. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound goaltender has appeared in 80 ECHL games in his career and compiled a record of 46-22-5, a 2.71 goals against average and .926 save percentage. In addition, the Lenore, Manitoba native has 38 AHL appearances to his credit. He posted an 11-15-3 with a 4.43 goals against average and .865 save percentage. Hodson was drafted in 1998 NHL's Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the the third round, 69th overall.

Likit Andersson is entering his fifth season as a professional. The Thialand-born defenseman has also not appeared in a professional game this season. He has spent the majority of his professional career in the ECHL. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound defenseman has worn the sweaters of the Trenton Titans (1999-00), Greensboro Generals (2003-04) and Augusta Lynx (1999-01, 2001-03). Andersson has appeared in 256 games as a pro and scored 25 goals and 110 points with 181 penalty minutes.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.

Reading returns to the Sovereign Center tonight to battle the Johnstown Chiefs. The Keystone Cup series heats up as the Royals look for revenge for Johnstown's 2-1 victory in Johnstown on November 5. It's Corporate Care night in the Sovereign Center with the first 1,500 fans receiving a Royals team picture courtesy of Advance Auto Parts. Reading hosts Wheeling on Saturday. Labatt Blue is handing out Royals foam gloves to the first 1,500 fans through the gate. The puck drops for both contests at 7:05 p.m.
