Chiefs Staffer Moves Up To AHL

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Vice President and General Manager Jim Brazill announced today that Athletic Trainer Chris Stewart is leaving the team to become the Athletic Trainer of the American Hockey League's Lowell (Mass.) Lockmonsters.

"Chris has been part of the Chiefs family for nine seasons. His tireless work ethic and dedication to the team will certainly be missed. The Lowell Lockmonsters are very lucky to have him," said Brazill

Stewart joined the Chiefs during the 1996-1997 season. He was a fulltime employee of Western Pennsylvania Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation where he also worked with several of Bishop McCort High School's athletic teams.

"On behalf of all the players, coaches and training staff we would like to wish (Stew) the best of luck. This was an opportunity that does not come very often. He is a fantastic trainer and friend that will be missed. Lowell is gaining a valuable person and worker to their team," said Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien.

Stewart joins former Chiefs Head Coach Scott Allen, who is Lowell's Assistant Coach. The Lockmonsters have a dual affiliation with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Calgary Flames. Stewart will work his final two games with the Chiefs this weekend as they play on the road tonight in Reading and Saturday night in Atlantic City. His first day with Lowell will be Monday.

The Chiefs next home game will be Saturday December 18th when the Chiefs host the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at 7:00 p.m. During the game, the annual Johnstown Chiefs/Power 99.1/U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Toy Toss. All fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed toy to the game and when the Chief score their first goal of the night, throw the toys onto the ice for collection.
