Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons acquired goaltender Jamie Hodson today from the Reading Royals in exchange for financial considerations.

Hodson, a former third round draft choice of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, played a total of 34 games the past two seasons for the American Hockey League's St. John's Maple Leafs. Although he has yet to suit up for any team this season, in 2002-03 he led the ECHL with a .938 save percentage for the Greensboro Generals, and last season for the Generals, he finished second in the league with a .929 save percentage while posting a record of 17-11-1 and a 2.70 goals against average.

"To be honest, Jamie was the guy I chased all summer to be our number one goaltender, but he decided he wanted to step away from the sport for awhile and assess where he was at personally," said Falcons General Manager Blaine Moore. "When we traded Simon Lajeunesse [on Nov. 24], we had some bad luck that our plans for another goaltender fell through at the last moment. Now we've had some good luck and good timing. Jamie felt ready to play again, and I'm confident that between Brett Jaeger and him, we have as good a one-two tandem in net as anyone in the league."

To make room for Hodson on the roster, the club released goaltender Mike Dilorenzo yesterday. They also transferred John Wroblewski from seven-day injured reserve to 30-day injured reserve.
