Penguins Top Prospect to Make Pro Debut in Wheeling

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers announce today that forward Ben Eaves and goaltender Dany Sabourin have been assigned to the Nailers.

Eaves, 22, is in his first professional season, after playing four seasons at Boston College. He finished his career at BC playing in 125 games scoring 53 goals and 116 assists with 46 penalty minutes. Coming from a school with a rich hockey history, Eaves finished ranked fifth all-time in assists.

The 5'8" 180 pound native of Fairbault, Minnesota was a fourth round (131st ) pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins. One of the Penguins top prospects, Eaves was a finalist for the Hobey Baker award for College hockey's best player in 2002-03, college hockey's equivalent to the Heisman Trophy. He has missed the first 24 games of Wilkes-Barre's season recovering from knee surgery.

Sabourin, 24, was recalled from the Nailers on November 30 and appeared in two games with the Penguins, posting a 1-1 record and a 1.22 goals against average. In 13 games this season with the Nailers, he has a 10-2 record with a 1.28 goals against average and three shutouts. He was voted ECHL Saver of the Month for November and has been voted two times the ECHL Saver of the Week.
