Albany River Rats News Release

GLENS FALLS, NY- River Rats Assistant Captain Mike Angelidis scored twice and Oskar Osala netted the third-period game-winner as Albany dropped the Adirondack Phantoms 3-2 in the final regular season game in River Rats history on Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Albany improved to 10-1-1-0 in the 12-game Time Warner Cable Cup series against the Phantoms, including a perfect 6-0-0-0 mark at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The River Rats return to the Times Union Center for Game One of their first round Calder Cup Playoff series on Wednesday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m.

Angelidis drew first blood at 5:03 of the opening period, snapping home a sharp centering feed from Brad Herauf for his 11th of the season. Herauf would have a goal waived-off midway through a scoreless second period due to a high sticking call, and the River Rats carried their slim 1-0 lead into the third period.

Jonathon Kalinski knotted the game just 1:08 into the final frame on a close-range 2-on-0 with David Laliberte. Angelidis then reclaimed Albany's lead with his second goal of the night and 12th of the season at 7:11, guiding home a pretty feed from Chris Terry on a 3-on-2 rush. Danny Syvret drew the Phantoms even at 2-2 with a power play blast at 12:43, but Oskar Osala reclaimed Albany's lead for good with 5:29 remaining with a big rebound put-away from linemate Jiri Tlusty.

River Rats goalie Justin Peters stopped 14-of-16 shots faced in the game to earn the win, as Albany finished the 2009-10 regular season with a 43-29-3-5 record. Phantoms goaltender Jeremy Duchesne allowed three goals on 19 shots faced and took the loss, as Adirondack finished the season with a 32-41-3-4 mark. Albany out-shot the Phantoms 19-16 in the game and went 0-for-6 on the power play, while Adirondack finished 1-for-5 on the man-advantage.

2010 Calder Cup playoff packages are now on sale at the River Rats executive offices at the Times Union Center, by calling (518) 487-2244 or by logging onto www.albanyriverrats.com.
