San Antonio Rampage News Release
ROSEMONT, Ill. (December 8, 2010)- The San Antonio Rampage won their fourth straight game with a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena on Wednesday night. The Rampage have won 18 of their last 22 games and improve to 19-6-1-0 as they continue to lead the Western Conference with 39 points.
Center Andrew Ebbett and right wing Petr Prucha each recorded two assists in the contest. Ebbett is currently on a four-game point streak with his third consecutive multiple point night.
Left wing Mikkel Boedker provided a goal and an assist for a team-leading eighth multi-point game.
The Rampage took a 1-0 advantage 10:31 after the initial face off on right wing Matt Watkins' rebound goal. Watkins punched the puck past Wolves goaltender Peter Mannino after Viktor Tikhonov's shot was deflected into the slot. Rampage defenseman Jeff May provided the second assist.
San Antonio extended their lead to 2-0 off right wing Brett MacLean's sixth power-play goal of the season. Ebbett assisted on MacLean's backhanded shot from the left post that went low stick side behind Mannino 16:25 into the first period. Prucha picked up his fourth assist of the season on the play.
Rampage netminder Al Montoya made eight saves in the first period, however, did not return to the game after the first intermission allowing Matt Climie to take over for the remaining two periods.
Just 56 seconds into the middle stanza, San Antonio claimed a 3-0 lead when defenseman Maxim Goncharov netted his third goal of the season from the slot that beat Mannino low stick side. Ebbett and Boedker provided the helpers.
Chicago responded with two consecutive goals in the second period cutting the Rampage lead to 3-2. Center Ryan Garbutt backhanded a rebound goal off Mark Matheson's shot at the 1:27 mark to put the Wolves on the scoreboard. Center Jared Ross followed suit six minutes later beating Climie high glove side after receiving a lead pass from Darren Haydar in the slot.
San Antonio pushed their lead to 4-2 as Bracken Kearns assisted on Peter MacArthur's goal that went top shelf over Mannino at the 14:52 mark of the third period. Prucha dished out the second assist.
With 1:21 remaining in the game, Chicago head coach Don Lever pulled Mannino in favor of a sixth attacker, but the Rampage seized the opportunity as Boedker scored on the empty net providing San Antonio with a 5-2 victory.
Al Montoya and Matt Climie combined for 32 saves on 34 Wolves shot attempts.
The Rampage conclude their five-game road trip in Houston on Friday with a 7:35 p.m. faceoff against the Aeros at the Toyota Center. They return home on Saturday to host Salute the Badges Night against the Manitoba Moose at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
