Bears Edge Devils 3-2 Wednesday

HERSHEY scored back-to-back short-handed goals 25 seconds apart early in the second period, and defeated Albany 3-2 at Times Union Center Wednesday night.

Andrew Joudrey scored the game's only first period goal, netting his fourth of the season on a rebound try at the 10:14 mark. Ashton Rome picked up the lone assist, and the BEARS took a 1-0 lead after one.

Special teams would provide the rest of the goals for both teams the rest of the night, leading off with a pair of short-handed goals in the first minute of the second period. Jay Beagle scored on a breakaway against Albany goaltender Jeff Frazee just 30 seconds into the second period to give the BEARS a 2-0 lead. Steve Pinizzotto was up next just 25 seconds after that with another short-handed strike to build up a 3-0 advantage. Albany would score two power play goals before the period came to a close, with Michael Swift scoring at 11:23 and Matt Anderson scored at 18:34 to round out the scoring.

Goaltender Dany Sabourin made 21 saves to earn his sixth road win of the season.

Notes: HERSHEY travels to Charlotte on Thursday in preparation for a two-game series with the Checkers this weekend at Time Warner Cable Arena. The BEARS play in North Carolina Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the final trip to the Tar Heel State for 2010-11. Left wing Grant McNeill has been assigned to South Carolina (ECHL), where he will play in this weekend's games for the Stingrays. Scratches for Wednesday's game in Albany included Patrick McNeill, Keith Aucoin, Trevor Bruess, and Phil Oreskovic. Aucoin is skating away from the team this week in the hopes of returning to the lineup prior to the Christmas holiday. New Jersey Devils CEO/President/GM Lou Lamoriello attended the game. The team's travel includes a bus ride home from Albany after the game to central PA, and a Thursday morning flight out of Harrisburg International Airport to Charlotte on Thursday. The win was the 75th of Mark French's AHL career.
